Roche Diagnostics Appoints New Global CEO

ISTANBUL (AA) - Roche announced a new senior appointment globally for its Diagnostics Division.

According to a statement from the company, Roche, which announced critical changes in its global structure in 2022, continues to strengthen its organizational structure.

In this context, Matt Sause, Roche Diagnostics North America Regional President, was appointed to replace Thomas Schinecker, who heads the Roche Diagnostics Division and was appointed Roche Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective March 2023.

In the statement, Thomas Schinecker noted that Matt Sause has held numerous positions in both Diagnostics and Pharmaceuticals across Asia, Latin America, Europe and North America during his more than 20-year career at Roche, and that his scientific expertise and leadership experience make him an excellent leader for Roche Diagnostics.

Severin Schwan, current Roche Group CEO, who will hand over his duties to Thomas Schinecker effective March 2023, stated: "Matt has had an extraordinary career at Roche. I am very pleased that once again we are bringing an internal candidate to the leadership position of Roche Diagnostics."

According to information provided in the statement, after graduating from the University of Miami's Department of Microbiology and completing his MBA at the University of California, San Diego, Matt Sause began his career at Roche in 2002 as Senior Manager of Molecular Solutions in the United States.

After holding General Manager and Global Product Leadership roles in different countries such as Japan, Ireland, Peru and South Korea, Sause moved to Genentech in 2018, where he served as Head responsible for the Lung, Head and Neck Cancer Treatment area. Subsequently, he was appointed to his current position as Roche Diagnostics North America Regional President and CEO.
