Novartis Türkiye Appoints New Executive

Dr. Mehmet Barutçugil, who successfully served as Director of the Immunology-Hepatology-Dermatology Therapeutic Area in the Novartis Pharma Medical Division, has been appointed as Director of Scientific Operations at Novartis Pharma. In his new role, Barutçugil will lead the Scientific Operations team reporting to the General Manager of Novartis Pharma. [caption id="attachment_125682" align="alignleft"] Dr. Mehmet Barutçugil[/caption] Dr. Mehmet Barutçugil graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 2000, completed his specialty training in Family Medicine at Bakırköy Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital, and worked as a specialist physician at Ümraniye Training and Research Hospital. Beginning his career at Novartis in 2007 as Regional Medical Manager, Barutçugil held various positions including Medical Manager, Group Medical Manager, and Regional Medical Excellence Manager. During his tenure, Barutçugil played an active role in clinical studies, regulatory approvals, reimbursement, and launch processes for numerous products. Between 2015 and 2017, he continued his work as Medical Director responsible for rheumatology and transplantation areas in the AMAC region, comprising countries from Asia, Middle East and Africa. In 2020, Barutçugil temporarily served as Director of Scientific Operations in Taiwan for three months, restructuring the country's medical organization. He continued working as Immunology-Hepatology-Dermatology Therapeutic Area Manager from 2019 onwards and served as Asia Pacific, Middle East and Australia Region (APMA) Medical Representative on the Business Unit Leadership Team from July 2020.
