Swimmer Aysu Türkoğlu to Cross the North Channel The 22-year-old young champion Aysu Türkoğlu is preparing for a daring journey filled with courage and determination. Having achieved great success last year by crossing the English Channel and earning her place in history as the youngest female swimmer to do so, Aysu is now set to write another legend by crossing the challenging North Channel between Ireland and Scotland. The 22-year-old swimmer from Bodrum crossed the English Channel in 16 hours and 28 minutes last year, making her mark as a legend and becoming the youngest Turkish female swimmer to traverse the channel. This year, under the sponsorship of Farmasi, Türkoğlu will cross the North Channel, a more challenging leg than the English Channel. Between 9-14 August, she will plunge into the 12-degree cold waters off Ireland and swim across the treacherous sea to Scotland. This epic endeavor is no ordinary undertaking. Known in the swimming world as one of the "7 Oceans," the North Channel tests swimmers in seven unique and challenging sea conditions, including the famous English Channel between England and France. Yet it is viewed with certainty that Aysu and her unwavering determination will enable her to face this new challenge head-on.
For cold-resistance training, Aysu spends time in snow during winter and ice-filled bathtubs in summer
Aysu underwent months of rigorous preparation and strict training for this daring endeavor. Drawing on invaluable experience gained during her victory in the English Channel, Aysu meticulously honed her skills and resilience in pursuit of even greater triumphs. The North Channel is not for the faint-hearted. In waters where temperatures drop to 12-14 degrees and jellyfish with potentially fatal consequences lurk in wait, Aysu is well aware of the immense risks she faces. Yet she also knows that overcoming such trials will elevate both the physical and mental limits she confronts to unprecedented heights. Aysu Türkoğlu is pushing her cold-resistance training to an entirely new level with remarkable determination. In her pursuit of excellence, she swims for hours in icy waters, faces natural conditions six days a week, and maintains rigorous strength training. But for Aysu, the essence of this journey extends beyond mere physicality. As she herself has stated, "The higher your psychological and mental strength, the better your performance in crossing the channel. For this reason, your psychological fitness is just as important as your physical fitness." Swimming the North Channel is not merely a personal quest for victory; it is a matter of national pride. Upon successful completion, Aysu Türkoğlu will not only etch her name in history once more, but will also become the youngest woman to conquer the treacherous North Channel. With each stroke, Aysu Türkoğlu exemplifies the human spirit that refuses to be daunted by hardship, proving that dreams and aspirations know no bounds. Aysu's journey stands as testimony to the power of determination and self-belief, serving as inspiration for future generations of swimmers and adventurers. Aysu Türkoğlu aims to break the Guinness record by completing all "7 Oceans" channels within 5 years, immediately following her North Channel crossing.
