Chemical exports reached $3.9 billion in first four months of the year

According to a statement by Istanbul Exporters Associations (İİB), exports reached USD 3.9 billion in the first four months of the year, representing an 8.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023. İİB, with its seven member exporter associations and more than 20,000 companies operating in different cities, sold products to 188 country markets during the January-April period and increased its share in national exports to 5.4%. The association's total exports in the first four months of the year reached USD 3.9 billion with an 8.2% increase.

Iraq received the highest exports at USD 317 million

In the first four months of the year, Iraq received the highest value of exports at USD 317 million, with animal products, cereals, legumes, oilseeds and their products being the main items sold to this country. Following Iraq, İİB achieved the highest value of exports to Germany, the United States of America (USA), Italy and the United Kingdom. In the exports made, hazelnuts and hazelnut products along with ship, yacht and related services stood out for Germany, cereals, legumes, oilseeds, furniture, paper products for the USA, hazelnuts and hazelnut products along with ship, yacht and related services for Italy, and furniture, paper and forest products along with cereals, legumes, oilseeds and their products for the United Kingdom. When looking at country groups, the region to which İİB exported the most was European Union (EU) countries at USD 943 million. Exports to the EU increased by 30% compared to the same period of the previous year. Among the associations within İİB, Istanbul Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Their Products Exporters Association (İHBİR) exported USD 1 billion 222 million in the first four months of the year, Istanbul Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association USD 1 billion 177 million, Ship, Yacht and Related Services Exporters Association (GYHİB) USD 533 million, Istanbul Aquatic Products and Animal Products Exporters Association (İSHİB) USD 407 million, Istanbul Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Exporters Association (İFMİB) USD 279 million, Istanbul Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association USD 185 million, Istanbul Dried Fruit and Dried Fruit Products Exporters Association (KUMİB) USD 98 million.

"We expect to complete the first half of the year with export growth"

Views of İİB Coordinator Chairman Kazım Taycı were included in the statement. Taycı stated: "Our member exporting companies that gathered at our general assemblies approved the 2023 management board work reports, financial and audit board reports, and also determined the roadmap for 2024. We realized Turkey's national participation at Seafood Expo Global, one of the important fairs in the aquatic products sector. Interest in our events was high. We successfully promoted our sectors abroad. I congratulate all our exporters who contributed to our export growth. We expect to complete the first half of the year with export growth," he said.
