Foundation Laid for Yalova Makine OIZ's 4th Production Facility

The foundation stone was laid for the fourth factory in Yalova Makine Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), which will provide employment for tens of thousands of people across hundreds of facilities. The foundation stone for the fourth production facility was laid as part of Phase 1 works of Yalova Makine OIZ, which upon completion will host 320 factories and provide employment for 25,000 people. Speaking at the foundation stone ceremony for Arı Döküm and Makine facilities, OIZ Board Chairman Direnç Özdemir said they would lay the foundation for a test and calibration center by the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) in September, which will also serve shipyards and the national TOGG project. Özdemir stated that the foundation for the engineering faculty campus of Yalova University, comprising mechanical engineering, mechatronics and industrial engineering departments, would also be laid in October.

Emphasizing that they are not building a mere factory cluster in the industrial zone, Direnç Özdemir continued his remarks as follows:

"We are building a university, public and industry cooperation ecosystem here. Our government officials very much liked the architectural concept we call Anadolu 5.0, but they also said our work would be very difficult. They probably thought we wouldn't succeed. As of today, we have issued licenses to approximately 20 industrial enterprises. Thanks to God, in what we call Anadolu 5.0—an interpretation of Anatolia's civilian architecture in an industrial context—we are perhaps building the world's only example of this kind of architecture here. We are building both aesthetically pleasing and equally green buildings here. Each of our facilities, including social amenity areas, is being constructed according to TSE green building criteria. In this sense, we will hopefully achieve a first, both in Turkey and in the world, with our beautiful, green Yalova. Instead of those soulless, characterless glass structures with silicon facades that contradict green commitments, we will together build a community of happy workers here that preserves our culture and features green buildings."  

Arı Döküm and Makine General Manager Özgür Karakuş, noting that they want to make technological investments and increase employment, said the following:

"In our 24-year history, we have exported to more than 45 countries. We export 95 percent of our products. We conduct R&D, we design, and we continue to grow."
