Wacker Sets Up Production Plant for Dispersible Polymer Powders in South Korea
After a construction phase lasting 20 months, Wacker Chemie AG has commissioned a new spray dryer for the production of dispersible polymer powders in Ulsan, South Korea.
The facility is part of the company's ongoing site expansion aimed at increasing production capacity in Asia for dispersions and dispersible polymer powders. Wacker is a producer of polymeric dispersions and dispersible polymer powders, key components in the manufacture of construction materials.
The construction sector in Asia is currently experiencing rapid growth. Demand for high-quality, energy-efficient, sustainable construction solutions is expanding equally strongly. This enables the group to invest in the region and increase production capacity for dispersions and dispersible polymer powders in South Korea.
The commissioning of the new spray dryer represents an important milestone in the company's expansion plans for the Ulsan site. Wacker currently produces vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer (VAE) dispersions in Ulsan.
The new spray dryer converts liquid dispersions into dispersible polymer powders by feeding them, via an atomizer, into an extremely rapid hot gas stream that forms a fine powder.
