USI PRISM Platform Applies Anti-Reflective Coatings to Help Lenses and Panels Achieve Optimum Aperture

Ultrasonic spray coating systems leader Ultrasonik Sistemler A.Ş. (USI) is setting a higher standard in producing uniform coatings that support superior optical performance on lenses and glass panels. Anti-reflective (AR) coatings enhance the efficiency of lenses used in LED lighting and traffic signals, as well as glass sheets and glass panels used in the solar and smart device markets. The uniformity of the applied coating layer is critical to performance, measured in both optical transmission and reflection. USI's tCAT technology applies a single, uniform layer with dry layer thickness in the range of 100 nm to 150 nm. USI's technology is also used to apply nanoparticle coatings in a smooth and defect-free layer that provides superior optical performance. All substrate types for thin film coatings are suitable for glass plates, lenses, plastic surfaces, wafer plates, and flexible films. USI's PRISM 1200 and PRISM 800 systems use a proprietary "reciprocating head-motion profile" to deliver an ultra-uniform coating layer on surfaces up to 1,200 mm wide. USI's ultrasonic spray head is a solid-state device with no moving parts. It atomizes coating liquid using ultrasonic energy, then shapes the spray into a flat, layer-like form using low-pressure air flow. The spray head "cleans in place." No complex adjustments are required for setup, and no disassembly is necessary for cleaning. USI's advanced liquid delivery system controls flow rate using a precision metering pump (PMP) fully integrated into the control system. Liquid flow rate is adjusted in 1/10th increments of 1 ml/min in the coating recipe. Applications Engineer Chris Lasonde at USI stated, "USI systems meet the demand for thin, uniform thickness down to the sub-micron level as required by manufacturers. Process repeatability is another area where USI products lead the industry."
