International Food Safety Congress to Begin

Registration has opened for the 7th International Food Safety Congress, to be held by the Food Safety Association on 4-5 June 2020. Participants can register online for the 7th International Food Safety Congress, which will take place at Istanbul Grand Cevahir Hotel Convention Center. The 7th International Food Safety Congress, organised by the Food Safety Association which has been working since 2004 to develop food safety awareness in Turkey and bringing together all stakeholders in the food sector, will feature numerous national and international expert speakers. This year, under the motto "Safe food today and tomorrow," the 7th International Food Safety Congress will be held on 4-5 June 2020 at Istanbul Grand Cevahir Hotel Convention Center, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the International Association for Food Protection – IAFP, as well as many other national and international supporting institutions.

International Food Safety

The International Food Safety Congress, which is the only international congress in Turkey with food safety as its sole main theme, brings together the sector, public institutions, universities, professional associations, international experts and civil society organisations, carrying out its mission to serve as the most reliable platform where information on safe food is shared, new syntheses are reached and this accumulated knowledge can be transferred to practice. Food safety is an extremely dynamic field experiencing constant developments in light of advances in science and technology and changes in consumer preferences. The ongoing climate change makes this field even more dynamic. With growing interest each year, the Congress will address topics ranging from special sessions where the EU Food Safety Authority EFSA and the Directorate General for Health and Food Safety DG SANTE will present new developments, to the One Health approach that evaluates human health, animal health and the environment as a whole; covering many subjects from food safety in the supply chain to food fraud. Samim Saner, President of the Food Safety Association, pointing out that food safety has strategic importance for consumer protection, sector development and national economic growth, stated that they are trying to give due credit to the importance and value of their mission, and said: "Within the scope of the 7th International Food Safety Congress, we hope that the very satisfying presentations from leading experts from our country and many parts of the world on new topics emerging and to emerge on a global scale, best practice examples from the sector, opportunities, hazards and new food safety technologies will be appreciated by our valued participants." He added that the congress programme will be announced in February and that they expect wider participation from all areas of the sector.
