Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Announces Good News for İzmir

Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri Coordinator Vice Chairman and Ege Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association Chairman Hayrettin Uçak visited Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaosmanoğlu in his office to discuss solutions for opening new maritime routes to Africa and addressing crude oil storage issues at İzmir port.

Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri Coordinator Vice Chairman and Ege Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association Chairman Hayrettin Uçak made the following statement on the matter:

"We presented to our Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaosmanoğlu the opening of new maritime routes to Africa and our crude oil storage issues at İzmir port. New routes to Africa can be opened once companies in our poultry sector reach the export volumes that would justify this route. Previously there were services from İzmir port to South Africa. These and similar routes will be reconsidered." "Liquid products that may pose a hazard (such as acids) are subject to permits due to environmental safety. Most recently liquid oil was added to this products list. Regarding storage infrastructure, our Associations stated that the Ministries would permit investment in İzmir port by us for the construction of silos, noting that similar storage facilities have been built at various ports. Our Ministry is ready to provide all kinds of support for our investment, production and export-focused roadmap to succeed. At a time when global recession is on the agenda, logistics has become even more important. It was a productive meeting, and I wish it to be beneficial for our exporters and region.
