Another Major Investment from TUSAŞ

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) is making another major investment to conduct radar cross-section tests required for the National Combat Aircraft (MMU) and other indigenous platforms under development. The country's largest radar cross-section test facility, and the world's fifth largest, is targeted to commence operations in the second quarter of 2024, with the capacity and capabilities it possesses. The Radar Cross-Section Test Facility, designed to determine the visibility and size of the National Combat Aircraft on radar, will be one of the world's most modern facilities in this field with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The facility, which will contribute to the design work of the platform, will also determine the amount of reflection of radar signals, which are electromagnetic waves. Thus, as a result of the tests to be conducted, the low visibility characteristic of the National Combat Aircraft on radar will be validated.

Expressing his views on Turkey's largest radar cross-section test facility in terms of the platform size and measurement precision it will support, Turkish Aerospace Industries General Director Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil made the following statement: "We continue to make major investments that will free our country from dependence in the aviation field. In this context, the radar cross-section test facility, whose construction we will begin in the near future, will be one of the world's most advanced facilities in this field with the technology it will contain. We will thus conduct another important test for our National Combat Aircraft platform using national resources in our country. We will continue to contribute to our country's independent aerospace ecosystem."         Turkish Aircraft Industries Corporation (TUSAŞ) was established on 28 June 1973 under the Ministry of Industry and Technology with the aim of reducing dependence on foreign sources in Turkey's defence industry. Together with the decision to use F-16 aircraft to meet the Turkish Air Force's fighter aircraft needs, TUSAŞ Aviation and Space Industries Inc. (TAI), a Turkish-US joint venture company, was established by TUSAŞ in 1984 for 25 years to produce the F-16 aircraft, integrate systems on the aircraft and conduct flight tests before delivery to our Air Force. Before the 25-year period was completed, in 2005, the foreign shares of TAI were purchased by Turkish shareholders and the company was restructured. Under this scope, TAI and TUSAŞ merged and expanded their operations under the TUSAŞ – Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. umbrella, becoming Turkey's technology centre in the development, modernisation, production, system integration and lifecycle support processes of aerospace and space industry systems.
