Türkiye's Academy Awards Find Their Winners
The winners of the Science Dissemination Awards, held for the first time this year to support those conducting scientific research, have been announced. Following two years of preparation and work, Prof. Dr. Fikrettin Şahin was deemed worthy of the Grand Prize; Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran of the Engineering, Nature and Health Prize; and Prof. Dr. İlyas Kemaloğlu (Kamalov) of the Social Sciences Prize.
The Science Dissemination Awards, which aim to support scientific studies and research in Turkey and present success in service of the country and humanity, and which are considered Turkey's largest academic awards, have found their recipients.
At the award ceremony held at Dolmabahçe Palace with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the names determined in three categories were announced following a two-year preparation, application and evaluation process.
At the Science Dissemination Awards Evening, attended by numerous distinguished figures from academia, universities, science, culture and media, hosts included Science Dissemination Foundation President Yücel Çelikbilek, Science Dissemination Society President Yusuf Tülün, Board of Trustees Deputy Chairman N. Bilal Erdoğan, Foundation General Director Adem Yavuz, Foundation Academic Advisory Board Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. İdris Sarısoy and Foundation Board of Trustees members.
Grand Prize Awarded to Boron-Based Solution Study for Control and Treatment of Obesity
Prof. Dr. Fikrettin Şahin, Faculty Member at Yeditepe University, has developed biological formulations and antimicrobial materials with industrial applications by using boron and boron compounds in food, environment, medicine and molecular diagnosis and characterization of plant-derived microorganisms. Additionally, by establishing separate research groups on topics such as stem cell production, gene therapy and cancer treatment, he continues research and development (R&D) activities.Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran Deemed Worthy of Engineering, Nature and Health Prize
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran, Faculty Member at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, was deemed worthy of the Science Dissemination Award in the Engineering, Nature and Health Sciences category for his successful work enabling the creation of appropriate hydrogen storage conditions in fuel cells and the use of nanoparticles as catalysts in retrieving the stored hydrogen during the energy production stage. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran received TRY 100,000.00 along with the Engineering, Nature and Health Prize.Award for Research on the Golden Horde and Russia (Turkish-Tatar Influence on Russia)
This work written by İlyas Kemaloğlu, a faculty member in the History Department at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, consists of five main sections titled Relations Between the Golden Horde and the Russian Principalities, Indicators of Russian Principalities' Allegiance to the Golden Horde, Political Influences of the Golden Horde State on Russia, Influences of the Golden Horde on Russian State Organization and Socio-Cultural Influences of the Golden Horde on Russia.Advertisement
