Turkey and Czechia Establish New Trade Route

Mars Logistics, a leading Turkish logistics company, has announced the addition of a new route to its intermodal transport operations, an environmentally friendly transport model.

With the new route serving Turkey-Czechia, the company aims to conduct three round-trip journeys per week and transport a total of 216 equipment units.

The company announced it has added a new route to its Bettembourg and Duisburg intermodal lines, which have been operating since 2012. The Halkalı-Kolin route will feature three round-trip journeys per week, enabling safe, economical and environmentally responsible deliveries. Gökşin Günhan, Board Member of Mars Logistics, explaining the advantages of intermodal transport, said, "Intermodal transport, which we have implemented and successfully operated under the slogan 'Optimum time, maximum environmental responsibility,' is preferred because it reduces carbon dioxide emissions, is secure, and allows large quantities of cargo to be transported in a single journey."

HALKALI-KOLIN IN 96 HOURS

Speaking about the new Halkalı-Kolin line, which has commenced operations following the currently operating Halkalı-Duisburg and Trieste-Bettembourg intermodal routes, Günhan noted that the route serving Turkey-Czechia will conduct three round-trip journeys per week and emphasized that the transit time is 96 hours terminal-to-terminal, adding: "We are constantly working to elevate the services we provide to higher levels and, without neglecting our social responsibilities, we are developing new services by shifting towards environmentally friendly transport systems. With our newly operational Halkalı-Kolin line, we will organize reciprocal journeys three times per week with a 96-hour transit period. With our Halkalı-Kolin route, we are adding a new route to the intermodal service we have provided for many years, thereby meeting our customers' needs." Günhan stated, "We have been providing intermodal transport services since 2012. Intermodal transport generates significantly less carbon emissions compared to road transport. With our Halkalı-Duisburg and Trieste-Bettembourg routes, we prevent the felling of approximately 1.5 million trees annually."

INVESTMENTS WILL CONTINUE

Günhan said that one of their most important priorities is responding to customer demands, noting that leading Turkish automotive and spare parts manufacturers, as well as major companies in the white goods, healthcare, and textile sectors, have shown strong interest in intermodal transport on this route, and they opened this line in response to the incoming requests. Stating that they will continue to invest in intermodal transport, Günhan said, "Intermodal transport, which stands out with its advantages in many areas, particularly the environment, will be a transport model on which we will increasingly focus going forward. I am pleased to say that we have new railway investments on which we are working and which we will announce in due course."

EUR 15 MILLION INVESTMENT

In the Turkey-Czechia intermodal transport system, where an investment of EUR 15 million has been made in owned wagons and swapbodies, containers loaded with goods collected from various points in Turkey will be transported via train journeys between Halkalı and Kolin. The transport, which will be carried out with 45-foot swapbodies and containers, will also serve countries such as Poland, eastern and southern Germany, Austria, and Slovakia in addition to Czechia.   Source: DHA
