Türk Telekom achieves connection speed of up to 50 gigabits per second

Türk Telekom has set a European first. In collaboration with Türk Telekom and ZTE, a 3-in-1 50G PON Combo trial (2.5G/10G/50G PON simultaneously) was successfully completed at the Ankara Türk Telekom Innovation and Test Centre. Türk Telekom's successful 50G PON trial, which achieved a speed record, was announced at the FTTH Council conference in Berlin. Playing a locomotive role in Turkey's digital transformation, Türk Telekom continues its operations under the motto of 'High-Speed Access for All'. Conducting pioneering work within innovative solutions, Türk Telekom has set a European first. In collaboration with Türk Telekom and ZTE, a 3-in-1 50G PON Combo trial (2.5G/10G/50G PON simultaneously) was successfully completed at the Ankara Türk Telekom Innovation and Test Centre. The trial, which achieved notable 50Gbps+ download speeds over a single fiber, was announced at the FTTH Council conference in Berlin. The technology in question will provide users with a different network experience with connection speeds reaching 50 gigabits per second, and will also provide innovative solutions to users in processes such as 8K interactive video applications, 3D cloud design and artificial intelligence applications. Mehmet Beytur, Deputy General Manager of Türk Telekom Support Services and Procurement Management, stated that as Türk Telekom they are leading Turkey's digital transformation and continuing to develop innovative projects, and said: 'The 3-in-1 50G PON Combo trial, in which we achieved record speeds through collaboration with ZTE, is the latest example of this. We will continue to take pioneering steps in innovative solutions.' ZTE Turkey Chief Executive Officer Yong Jie recalled that ZTE introduced the world's first precision 50G-PON prototype at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022, and said: 'In the same year, the 50G PON standard was finalized and received significant interest in the sector. By 2025, the 50G-PON industry chain is expected to be ready for commercialization.
