TÜBİTAK Provides Coronavirus Support

TÜBİTAK will support researchers examining the Covid-19 pandemic from the perspective of humanities and social sciences. In this context, the Ministry of Industry and Technology announced that it has set the support limit for projects launched under the title "Covid-19 and Society; Social and Humanitarian Effects of the Pandemic, Economic Effects, Problems and Solutions" at TRY 200,000. Presenting the current situation and trends with evidence-based scientific data, conducting short, medium and long-term projections, forecasts, analyses and planning studies, and developing solution proposals that will contribute to decision-makers and implementers in line with these analyses and forecasts are among the elements covered by the project scope.

Applications are expected until 4 May 2020, and the project duration has been set at a maximum of 6 months.

The subject headings are as follows:

- Crisis management and governance at global, national, regional and local levels, - Effects of the pandemic on global, national and local politics, - Effective and efficient health communication, - Remote access and online delivery of critical public services such as education, health and justice, - Effects of school closures and postponement or cancellation of examinations, - Individual and family coping strategies in response to the pandemic and their relationship with psychological, sociological, cultural, economic and other variables, - Effects of uncertainty, anxiety, fear and stress on children, adults and elderly people and the risks they create, and possible factors that reduce or increase their impact, - Development of emergency clinical interventions and provision of psycho-social support for families who have lost members due to the pandemic, health personnel and all groups at risk, - Effects of the pandemic on settlements, ensuring urban quality of life in combating the pandemic, - Subject headings to be addressed in terms of the economic effects of the pandemic are as follows: - Effects on macro and micro-level economy, trade, finance, employment and business models at national, regional and global levels, - Supply-demand situations caused by the pandemic in different sectors, supply chains, production capacity, digitalization needs; problems and solutions in terms of access to finance and employment, individual and sectoral impacts of economic recovery packages, - Changes in global investments, trends in foreign direct investment, - Effects of the pandemic in terms of occupational safety, corporate risk management, new human resources practices and new employment relations.   Source: Hürriyet - TÜBİTAK
