TGDF Council of Chairs Meeting Held
Turkey Food and Beverage Industry Associations Federation (TGDF) Presidents' Council convened on 30 June. TGDF Presidents' Council, held in person, opened with remarks by President Demir Şarman.
Şarman noted that despite the pandemic receding, the world, the region, and Turkey are simultaneously facing difficult conditions. He continued his remarks as follows:
"Despite the hardships, we do not stop, we move forward. As the Turkish food and beverage sector, we work with all our strength to contribute to the national economy and to ensure food security, one of the most basic needs of our citizens."
Şarman noted that the Turkish food and beverage sector is a net exporter, stating: "The agriculture, food and beverage sector exported USD 22.9 billion in 2021. The foreign trade surplus reached USD 5.76 billion, up 17 percent compared to the previous year. Our sector has always been one that brings gains to our country."
Management continues its work
Şarman also noted that the President and the Management and Supervisory Boards elected at the 8th TGDF Extraordinary General Assembly held on 12 January 2022 have achieved productive work in a short period. In his presentation, he summarized the new management's work under the headings of Ministry Contacts and Crisis Desk. Şarman shared information that participation in TGDF within a federation structure continues, stating: "With the participation of the Egg Producers, Products and Manufacturers Association (YÜSAD), the number of TGDF members increased to 29." Şarman also mentioned the TGDF Vision Bulletin they launched and explained as follows: "We compile the monthly work and activities of our federation and share them with all our members as an E-Bulletin. In this way, we enable our members to easily follow all TGDF activities."We closely monitor the regulatory agenda
Şarman concluded his remarks as follows: "As TGDF, within the scope of the memorandum of understanding we concluded with FAO, we launched the TGDF Women's Platform. We then participated in the European Regional Conference. In particular, the regulatory agenda and alignment with international legislation are very important for our sector. We closely monitor these processes being conducted with the public authorities. At the same time, as TGDF, we closely follow academic and scientific authorities and endeavor to contribute to these processes with the experience we have accumulated over time. Another important item on our agenda as TGDF is the Sustainable Development Goals. We closely monitor this area and conduct significant work on it."Advertisement
