Digital transformation, ranging from artificial intelligence to financial innovation, is now reshaping countries' economic power. At Plan B Forum 2025, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, responding to questions from The Steve Group CEO Derya Türker, stated that Turkey will play a key role in the future of global trade with its young population, strategic location and digital adaptation capabilities.
Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, the world's largest stablecoin issuer, described 2025 as a "turning point" at Plan B Forum held in Lugano, making important assessments regarding Tether's investment vision and 2026 targets. Noting that they are accelerating investments in gold, Bitcoin and land, Ardoino said, "These investments are not merely a financial strategy for us; they are also insurance against possible economic fluctuations."
"South America has excellent land for agriculture. Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay stand out in this respect. Land retains its value no matter what, because we all need food. At the same time, we own more than 100 tonnes of physical gold in Switzerland. The fact that gold prices keep breaking records shows that the global economy is entering a period full of uncertainties."
The statements made by Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino within the scope of Plan B Forum 2025 carry important signals not only for global financial circles, but also for countries shaping the digital economy. Ardoino's positive assessments regarding Turkey draw attention to Turkey's rising position in the digital currency ecosystem.
"Turkey is a candidate to become a centre of innovation and trade"
Making assessments specific to Turkey, Ardoino emphasized that the country has major opportunities in the digital economy:
"Turkey is a country that can make independent decisions and this is a very important advantage. While Europe is making structurally slow progress, we see Turkey undergoing a rapid adaptation process. With its geographical location, it is positioned at the gateway to Mediterranean trade. It has a young, dynamic population and a culture close to digital. This is making it the future centre of trade and innovation. Within three to ten years, we will see concrete results of this potential."
A period of transparency and fair competition has begun in the US
Ardoino noted that the Genius Act, which entered into force in the US, is an important turning point in the stablecoin market:
"I spent two months in Washington this year and met directly with lawmakers. We hold our funds at Cantor Fitzgerald and invest in US Treasury bonds. We are working to keep the market stable. Now there is a fair legal ground for every stablecoin company. This development also encourages banks in the sector to develop their own digital currencies. Diversity is always good for the health of the financial system."
Ardoino also used the words, "We provide a net positive contribution to the US economy. Tether is not only a technology company, but also a force supporting the global stability of the dollar."
