Temel Kotil appointed as new CEO of Çalık Enerji 

A senior management appointment has been made at Çalık Enerji, which ranks among the world's leading energy companies and operates EPC projects, renewable energy investments, distribution and retail activities in the energy sector under Çalık Holding. Temel Kotil, who has over 30 years of experience and a track record of successful projects in the aerospace and space industry sector, assumed the CEO role at Çalık Enerji as of 1 August 2024.  

A senior management appointment has been made at Çalık Enerji, one of the Çalık Holding companies that produces projects adding value to human life in every geography where it operates. Temel Kotil, who has more than 30 years of experience in various companies in the aerospace and space industry sector, previously served as General Director of Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ).   

About Temel Kotil

Temel Kotil graduated from Istanbul Technical University (ITÜ) Department of Aeronautical Engineering in 1983. He received his master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1986, a second master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university in 1987, and completed his doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering at Michigan University in 1991. Between 1991 and 1993, Kotil served as founder and director of the aerospace and advanced composites laboratories at ITÜ Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and worked as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at ITÜ Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He held the positions of Assistant Chair and Assistant Dean at the same faculty. Following his roles as Head of Research, Planning and Coordination Department at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Kotil began his career at Turkish Airlines in 2003 as Assistant Technical General Director. In 2005, he was appointed as General Director and Board Member of Turkish Airlines. Between 2005 and 2011, he served as Chairman of the Board of Turkish Airlines Technical A.Ş., and between 2010 and 2012 as Board Member of Sun Express. Between 2015 and 2023, Kotil served as Board Member of TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc.), and between 2016 and 2024 held the position of General Director of TUSAŞ.
