Teknopark İstanbul Achieves Significant Success Teknopark İstanbul has been awarded first place for the third consecutive time in the "Emerging Technology Development Zones" category. At the 9th Research and Development and Design Centers and Technology Development Zones Summit organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology in İzmir, the "Best Technoparks and R&D Design Centers Awards for the Year" found their recipients. At the summit where Turkey's leading enterprises in R&D design and technology gathered, Teknopark İstanbul maintained its first-place position according to the 2021 Technology Development Zones performance index results. With 409 companies, 8,669 R&D engineers and 2,924 R&D projects, Teknopark İstanbul continues to increase Turkey's technology capacity. In the "Emerging Technology Development Zones" category, it won the first-place award for the third consecutive time with 2021 data, following 2019 and 2020.
Topçu: More success stories on the way
Accepting the award on behalf of Teknopark İstanbul from Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Teknopark İstanbul General Manager Bilal Topçu said, "Teknopark İstanbul plays an important role in Turkey's innovative and knowledge-based development. Alongside the many success stories we have achieved, more are continuing to come."
Varank: Innovation is the key to development
Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank stated that they view R&D and innovation as the key to development, saying, "Our aim is to make a rapid transition from a Turkey that imports technology to a Turkey with the structure of high technology." Varank noted that high technology can be seen in Turkey's 97 technoparks, in the 1,567 R&D and design centers, in over 11,000 companies operating in these centers, and in projects such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, Internet of Things, space, aviation, robotics and nanotechnology being conducted in these companies.
