Over the past decade, within the framework of Industry 4.0, intensive discussions have taken place regarding the future of industry and how people are reorganizing within this context, and various innovation initiatives have been undertaken. Festo Turkey, as part of all this dialogue and cooperation, organized an event with 3 distinguished guests to share and discuss topics related to Industry 4.0, the future of manufacturing, science, economics, and of course the roles of people in this new era. This event, held at the Festo headquarters in the Mevlana meeting room, was attended by 3 distinguished guests from abroad and domestically, as well as representatives from leading companies in the industry. Opening remarks and moderation of this meeting, held under the main theme "Same Questions, Different Answers," were conducted by Osman Türüdü, Chairman of the Board of Festo San. ve Tic. A.Ş. Mr. Türüdü stated in summary: "When winds change, some build walls while others build windmills. Currently in the world and in our country, winds are blowing in technology, politics, and social areas, and sometimes these winds turn into storms. Of course, our business is about technology. We wanted to share what is happening in technology right now, the developments at Festo and in technology, together with our team members, and receive your contributions as well." Subsequently, Dr. Ansgar Kriwet, Member of the Board responsible for Sales, took the floor. Mr. Kriwet provided information on "Industry 4.0, Technological Developments at Festo" to you and our guests. He began his speech by referring to how important technology is for Festo. He spoke about the importance of productivity and efficiency for Festo. He explained that Festo has a global production and distribution network, with direct Festo company operations in 62 countries along with 250 local offices worldwide. He noted that Festo maintains its presence in continuously growing markets. As an example of Festo's innovative approach, he mentioned the bionic learning network project and how the knowledge accumulated from developed bionic projects is adapted to the industry. He emphasized that nature serves as a source of inspiration for factory and process automation. He then described how they are among the main developers of Industry 4.0 and the work they have done on the subject. He described Industry 4.0-compatible products, mechatronic subsystems, and the new Scharnhausen Technology Facility where Industry 4.0 is applied as extensively as possible. Mr. Kriwet also mentioned their activities in education regarding Industry 4.0. He described the features of the new automation platform CPX, the energy-saving features of the new air conditioning unit MS6 and data traceability, engineering tools and the new HGO software. Discussing the developed MCS multi-purpose transport system, he explained how much easier transportation could become for the facility. The second guest of the event was a distinguished economist, Prof. Dr. Özgür Demirtaş, who currently serves as Head of Finance at Sabancı University. Mr. Demirtaş shared his thoughts on Science, Economics, the Future, and ourselves. In summary, he noted that no country in the world, including America, is economically independent or can be. He pointed out that when examining a country's economy, it is important according to which reference point it is examined. He emphasized the necessity of certain reference points. He reminded that even in a rigorous science like physics, there is no absolute black or absolute white. Accordingly, he explained that in economics there would also be no absolute black or absolute white. From this perspective, he stated that it cannot be said that all economic data in Turkey is bad or that all data is good. He said that everything in life has shades of gray, and what matters is determining which shade of gray is obtained with which measuring instrument. He emphasized that what is important is to retain the good aspects and change the bad aspects. Mr. Demirtaş then evaluated the positive and negative aspects of Turkish and world economies according to these reference data. He explained that the economic activities of individuals, companies, and countries are similar to each other. Since 2012, by comparing economic data in Turkey with other countries, he presented to guests a complete economic evaluation feast in understandable language. The third guest to speak at the event was Prof. Dr. Nihat Akkuş. He currently serves as Department Head of Mechatronics Engineering at the Faculty of Technology at Marmara University. Mr. Akkuş shared his thoughts on the Future in Manufacturing and Machine Industry. He pointed out that innovative companies' products have become products we use in every field. He noted that most large companies are not patent owners but have taken existing inventions to different points with different approaches. He explained that companies that found internet search engines in the past are not doing well now, but the Google company that entered the sector later has surpassed other companies with its different approaches to the subject. He stated that invention will not be successful unless it proceeds alongside entrepreneurship. Mr. Akkuş then interpreted the stages of industry, saying that in Industry 1 we focused on the ability to do, in Industry 2 we focused on faster, higher quality and automation-based production. In Industry 3.0, we moved towards unmanned production. At the point we have now reached, with Industry 4.0, we have begun to bring together more integrated systems, he said. He then provided examples by explaining the historical process of development. By saying that in the 16th century the amount of knowledge people acquired throughout their entire lives, we now receive in a single day, he emphasized the information density and accessibility in today's conditions. The event concluded after questions and answers with guests moving to the cocktail lounge where they enjoyed a small music performance accompanied by conversation.
