Şişecam Hosts International Glass Conference
Şişecam, a global player in the glass and chemicals sectors, brought together leading representatives of the global glass industry at the 37th Şişecam International Glass Conference.
Under the theme "International Year of Glass," the conference was held hybrid in Istanbul on 17-18 November, where participants discussed the future of glass, its importance for sustainability, and the boundless development opportunities it offers for meeting future needs.
Şişecam Chairman of the Board and Member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman made the following remarks on the subject:
"Following the pandemic, the world continues its efforts against economic and geopolitical risks as well as risks to nature. Glass stands out as one of the most strategic materials not only of the past but also of the future, with its superior qualities supporting sustainability. At Şişecam, we view glass not merely as a business line but as a highly important tool for serving humanity. We are proud that through the Şişecam International Glass Conferences we have held for 37 years, we have created an important platform that plays a role in developing glass's superior capabilities."Şişecam General Manager Görkem Elverici offered the following comments on the subject:

The International Year of Glass was celebrated at the conference with panels where new ideas supporting the industry's development were shared, and it brought together leading representatives and scientists from the sector. At the conference, the technological, scientific and economic importance of glass, which has strategic significance in every area of our lives, was discussed, and work was carried out to further open glass's path of unlimited development.Glass provides great service to humanity

On the panel named after William Turner, former President of the International Commission on Glass (ICG), three women engineers who have served the development of glass science for many years and achieved international success came together: Alev Yaraman, Hande Sesigür, and Gülçin Albayrak.
