New Investment Decision from Şişecam Group in the New Year

Şişecam Group is adding another investment to its Turkish operations with a new furnace investment at its Ankara-Polatlı Düzcam Plant.

The new furnace, which will be implemented by Şişecam Düzcam operating within the Group with an investment of approximately TRY 480 million, will have annual production capacity of 220 thousand tons.

Şişecam Group Managing Board Vice Chairman and General Manager Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman, in a statement regarding the investment, underlined that they continue to create value for Turkey, saying: "As a Group, we are pursuing our work with the goal of sustainable growth. Following the glass packaging investments in Mersin and Eskişehir and the glass fiber investment in Balıkesir announced last year, we are pleased to announce the flat glass investment decision in Ankara Polatlı in the new year. With the investment to be realized in line with potential demand in the Turkish market, we will bring the second furnace into operation at the Polatlı Düzcam Plant. Thus, our flat glass production capacity in Turkey will reach 1.9 million tons annually," he said. Flat glass, a global player in all fundamental areas of glass such as household glassware, glass packaging and glass fiber, as well as in business lines covering soda and chromium compounds, Şişecam Group continues its investments rapidly in the new year. Şişecam Group will implement a new furnace investment with a capacity of 220 thousand tons/year at its Ankara Polatlı Düzcam Plant with an investment of approximately TRY 480 million. The new investment will be carried out by Trakya Cam Sanayii A.Ş. within the Şişecam Group.

Ahmet Kırman, noting that the annual production capacity of the Ankara Polatlı Düzcam Plant will increase to 520 thousand tons with the new furnace investment, said: "The new furnace investment in Ankara Polatlı will increase our production diversity in flat glass. Additionally, our new coated glass investment will also come into operation at the Bursa Yenişehir Düzcam Plant this year. Thanks to this investment, which will be in addition to our existing coated glass capacity, Turkey will become our high value-added glass production center. The coated glass products we offer to the market today control solar heat gain in summer while retaining heat indoors in winter, providing significant energy savings in buildings. When our investments are completed, we will be offering a wider range of products to the market, 'smart' glass products that control solar heat gain in summer while retaining heat indoors in winter."
