Şişecam Awarded Export Champion Prize Şişecam was recognized as Turkey's export leader in the "Cement, Glass, Ceramics and Clay Products" category at the Export Champions Awards Ceremony organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM). Gökhan Güralp, Deputy General Manager of Finance at Şişecam, received the award on behalf of Şişecam Foreign Trade from Treasury and Finance Minister Lütfi Elvan and TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle. In 2020, Şişecam produced 4.9 million tonnes of glass, 2.2 million tonnes of soda and 4.1 million tonnes of industrial raw materials, accounting for 30% of the total glass sector's exports. Şişecam Foreign Trade, the company executing exports from Turkey across all of Şişecam's business areas, became the country's largest exporter and sector leader in the "Cement, Glass, Ceramics and Clay Products" category nationwide. Despite the conditions created globally during the pandemic, Şişecam continued its investments to support the growth of locomotive sectors it supplies, meeting domestic and foreign demand with its value-added products and maintaining uninterrupted growth and export momentum. In 2020, Şişecam's sales revenues reached TRY 21.3 billion, while its international sales—representing the sum of exports from Turkey and sales from overseas production—reached USD 1.8 billion. International sales accounted for 61% of total sales. Regional distribution of sales was 87% Europe, 3% Africa and Middle East, 7% Asia-Oceania and 3% Americas. Maintaining its investment momentum thanks to its strong financial position, Şişecam made investments worth TRY 1.9 billion during the reporting period.
