Şişecam Renovates Its Facility in Georgia Şişecam has renovated the second furnace at its glass packaging facility in Georgia, the company's first investment outside Turkey. According to a statement from Şişecam, with an investment of approximately EUR 20 million, the renovated furnace equipped with the latest technologies has enabled Şişecam to maintain its position as Georgia's only glass producer while increasing the country's glass packaging production capacity by 25%. The ceremony, hosted by Şişecam General Manager Görkem Elverici and senior Şişecam executives, was attended by Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Turkish Ambassador to Tbilisi Ali Kaan Orbay, Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Governor Davit Nozadze and Mtskheta Mayor Dimitri Zurabishvili.

Şişecam General Manager Görkem Elverici, whose remarks were included in the statement, noted that as an established Republic company accompanying Turkey for 88 of the 100 years of the Turkish Republic, they proudly represent Turkey's production capacity across 4 continents and 14 countries.

Elverici stated that Georgia is a special country as it represents the first step in the global representation of this strength for Şişecam, adding: "In Georgia, where we made our first investment outside Turkey through a privatization initiative in 1997, we today have an annual glass packaging production capacity of 75,000 tons with 2 furnaces. As the only glass producer in the country, we manufacture glass packaging of various volumes and in 3 colors for the water, mineral water, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food sectors. We rank among Georgia's top 100 industrial companies with which we are closely bound by historical and cultural ties, and we provide employment to 250 people in the country," he said. Elverici made the following assessments: "In line with Şişecam's continuous improvement approach, this investment has equipped the furnace at our Mina factory with the most current technologies, increasing the capacity of our second furnace at the facility by 50%. This translates to a 25% increase in our total production capacity in Georgia. With this 75,000-ton capacity and our technological capabilities, we will respond more quickly to glass packaging demands from both Georgia and neighboring countries. We will continue to carry our production and technology strength to a global scale with the vision we inherited from our founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk." Source
