Switzerland-based Sika has opened its second production facility in Turkey in Tarsus, Mersin. The production plant will serve both the domestic market and overseas demand, particularly from Middle Eastern countries. The factory, which became operational in the Tarsus district of Mersin, will fill a gap in the construction chemicals sector.
This investment in a region distinguished by its economy and growth rates will supply products not only to the southern and southeastern regions but also to the entire domestic market and the Middle Eastern market.
We Believe in the South and Southeast
Bora Yıldırım, General Manager for Turkey and Regional Manager for Central Asia at Sika, noted that the Tarsus factory represents Sika Turkey's second factory investment. Our first factory, located in Istanbul, is currently operating and serving all of Turkey. Our new factory is positioned to serve Turkey's southern and southeastern regions. Despite various challenges in recent times, we did not hesitate to bring our new factory to life. We have strong confidence in the future of the market in Turkey's South and Southeast. We chose this region for our investment to be closer to our customers in this area and to further increase the quality, service and speed of service we provide to our customers, he said.Annual Capacity of 180,000 Tonnes
The factory opening was hosted by Sika Turkey General Manager and Central Asia Regional Manager Bora Yıldırım and Southern Europe and Middle East Regional Manager Hubert Perrin de Brichambaut, with attendance from Tarsus Municipality Deputy Mayor Hüseyin Boro and Mersin Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone Board Chairman Sabri Tekli. Yıldırım noted that while the factory's primary focus is the domestic market, it will also supply products to Middle Eastern countries. Sika Turkey's investment demonstrates confidence in Turkey's strong economy and serves as solid proof of our growth strategy for Turkey. Our factory in Tarsus, which is now operational, features advanced technological capabilities and automation-intensive systems with an annual production capacity of 180,000 tonnes, he said. Emphasizing that with the Tarsus factory producing powder and liquid products such as concrete additives, ceramic tile adhesives, concrete floor surface hardeners and structural repair mortars, Sika will continue to produce in Turkey and grow through new investments, Yıldırım stressed that they place great emphasis on technology and automation and operate in this vision. He noted that production at the Tarsus factory can even be controlled from the Istanbul head factory at the touch of a button.Advertisement
