Siemens Türkiye Delivers Solution to Konya OSB
Siemens Turkey provided the Konya Organized Industrial Zone (OSB), which employs 52,000 people across 40 different sectors and requires uninterrupted power supply critical for production continuity, with "Smart Energy Distribution" and 8DB10 Double-Bus Gas-Insulated Medium-Voltage Switchgear solutions.
In a project implemented for the first time in an OSB in Turkey, the switchgear panels—which have a minimum 30-year operational lifespan and provide energy continuity without any interruptions regardless of varying weather conditions—stand out for their maintenance-free operating characteristics.

With the project we implemented at Konya OSB, we became the choice of other industrial zones as well
Alper Çelebi, Country Manager of Siemens Turkey's Electrification and Automation Division, commented on the project carried out at Konya OSB as follows:
"As a company, we provide our deep expertise from buildings to campuses, from cities to industries, addressing the needs for reliability, efficiency and sustainability in energy supply. We are proud to have contributed to our country's development in this manner for over 165 years. We responded to Konya Organized Industrial Zone's need for uninterrupted power supply with our 8DB10 Double-Bus Gas-Insulated Switchgear solution, which incorporates the latest technological innovations in the world within our medium-voltage distribution systems. We were involved at every stage from determining the need for this product—which was used for the first time in an OSB in Turkey—through to commissioning after installation. Our successful implementation here played an important role in our selection in other industrial zone projects as well." Vahit Türkyılmaz, Regional Manager of Konya OSB, stated that the 115 units of 8DB10 switchgear procured from Siemens in Konya OSB's 5th Expansion Zone constitute the heart of a critical facility in terms of providing participating factories with sustainable production and uninterrupted electricity supply. At Konya OSB, power is sourced from TEİAŞ through two separate transformer sources and distributed to all factories in the zone. Siemens' double-bus system combines these two sources in a single switchgear panel. When these sources are combined in one panel, if there is a fault or interruption in one of the sources, it continues to feed the loads from the other transformer. In this way, uninterrupted power flow is ensured, and since the system provides source redundancy, it does not allow any interruptions. Additionally, the 36 kV gas-insulated medium-voltage switchgear panels, due to their compact size, occupy less space, providing savings in floor space and construction costs. Furthermore, they are not affected by environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature fluctuations and precipitation. While temperature differences normally cause condensation in air-insulated panels, leading to malfunctions, this does not occur in 8DB10 panels.Advertisement
