Defense Manufacturing Output to Accelerate

KONYA (AA) - ABDULLAH DOĞAN - Sanlab, which has established an R&D and production facility at Konya InnoPark with support from Mevlana Development Agency (MEVKA), is developing high-technology simulation projects for many areas of industry. The simulation technology manufacturing company, which commenced operations at InnoPark Konya Technology Development Zone, aims to end import dependence in real-time robotic applications, simulation and testing systems. The company targets the production of high-capacity testing systems for the defense industry.

With support from ASELSAN, the company has also localized the "6DOF Axis Motion Platform," which ensures accurate and error-free production of defense products.

As one of few companies worldwide in this field, the company, with the motion platform it produces for the defense industry, enables vibrations and accelerations in air, naval and land vehicles to be tested with high precision and realism.

These motion platforms; with their high durability in military test facilities, significantly reduce prototype costs and allow R&D periods to be shortened.

Selçuk Kükrek, founder partner of the company, told AA correspondent that they entered the sector as the importance of simulation technology for accident prevention became apparent.

Selçuk Kükrek stated that they carry out CNC, assembly and electric vehicle maintenance simulations in the sector, and have been producing real-time robotics, test platforms and high-technology simulators since 2009.

Noting that they have developed simulation technologies for Turkey's most important organizations, Kükrek said: "We are a simulation and robotics company. We created simulators related to land vehicles, where we use realistic physics. In the mathematical model of the vehicle, realistic physics refers to producing the same effect in simulators as is felt in reality. To achieve this, many people from different disciplines work such as mathematicians, vehicle dynamics specialists and mechatronic engineers. There is also a software dimension to this. We developed this moving platform with the state's support program. There is a serious localization effort in the defense sector, and we are proud to contribute to it in the robotics field."

Pointing out that in the founding years they could not obtain from abroad the product they needed to develop, Kükrek noted: "Because a firm with no competitors in the world did not supply the product we requested, we decided to develop test platforms. ASELSAN showed great determination on this matter, saying 'We must localize this.' Currently our moving platforms are used in ASELSAN and ASELSAN Konya factories in production and R&D processes.

Remotely operated weapon systems produced at ASELSAN Konya are tested on this platform before being mounted on the military vehicle. Every product goes through the moving platform, and if suitable, it is mounted on the military vehicle. When we load the road data of the land vehicle into our platform, the product is tested without assembly and before the vehicle takes to the road. It provides great convenience in terms of cost and time. Product assembly, disassembly, track setup... A process that would take weeks is solved by the test platform in less than 10 minutes, it is incredible convenience."
