Sanovel Supports Alzheimer’s Awareness with “Aklımda” Campaign

In scope of World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21, an awareness event will be held in Ankara. Organized in cooperation with Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi and Türkiye Alzheimer Derneği, the event will address issues of early diagnosis and prevention regarding Alzheimer’s disease, while visitors will be able to experience the daily life challenges faced by patients in the VR experience area prepared as part of Sanovel’s “Aklımda” campaign.

The event, to be held to raise public awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 16.00 at Doğal Yaşam ve Atatürk Çocukları Parkı. Experts, patients’ relatives and the public will come together at the event.

In the program, which Sanovel will support with its “Aklımda” campaign, information will be provided on Alzheimer’s risk factors, the importance of early diagnosis, the challenges faced by patients and their relatives, and treatment approaches.

The challenges faced by Alzheimer’s patients to be experienced via VR

One of the highlights of the event will be the VR (virtual reality) experience area created by Sanovel. Visitors will have the opportunity to better understand the disease by experiencing, through virtual reality glasses, the perceptual changes that Alzheimer’s patients may encounter in daily life.

Various activities will also be held at the event area, including musical performances, flamenco and folk dance shows, physical and mental activities, a backgammon tournament, and a “grandchildren’s corner” supporting intergenerational communication.

“Early diagnosis and social support are vital”

Türkiye Alzheimer Derneği Ankara Şube Başkanı and Etlik Şehir Hastanesi Nöroloji Kliniği Uzmanı Doç. Dr. Özlem Bizpınar noted that Alzheimer’s affects not only the patient but also the family and close circle, drawing attention to the importance of early diagnosis and social support.

Bizpınar stated that early diagnosis contributes to preserving patients’ period of independence and quality of life, while emphasizing that the treatment process must be carried out regularly under physician supervision.

Sanovel Stratejik İş Birimi Müdürü Aydın Alsema stated that the company reflects its experience in the central nervous system field into social awareness efforts as well, noting that with the “Aklımda” campaign they aim to increase social sensitivity on the subject of Alzheimer’s.

The event, starting at 16.00 on September 19, will be free of charge and open to participation by the entire public.
