SANLAB Sets Milestone in Turkish Defence Industry SANLAB, among Turkey's simulator manufacturers, has achieved a first in Turkey's defence sector by successfully localizing a 6-Axis Motion Platform with support from ASELSAN. Work on the technology began in 2017. Real-time test systems technology that enables simulation of vibration and acceleration experienced in aircraft, naval or land vehicles with high precision and realism can be applied across many different sectors including aerospace, automotive and defence. The technology, with its high durability in military test facilities, will significantly reduce prototype costs and play an effective role in shortening R&D periods. Localized with SANLAB's approximately 40-strong R&D and software team in line with ASELSAN's needs and expectations, the technology will reduce Turkey's defence industry's dependence on imports while increasing defence industry export revenues. Real-time test systems, which will drive development of new technologies and products in automotive and aerospace sectors alongside defence, will further strengthen Turkey in the defence industry. SANLAB Founder Partner Salih Kükrek commented on the matter: "During project development, we conducted extensive discussions and trial tests. Following the tests, we succeeded in meeting their needs to a large extent and decided to move forward together in this technology. ASELSAN was always by our side with great synergy and energy, believed in us and supported us. Our project, which came to life with a TRY 15 million R&D investment, will drastically reduce prototype timeframes, costs and durations, and accelerate development in the defence industry. Instead of foreign-origin technologies subject to export permission from abroad, our own simulation technology developed with 100 per cent domestic and national resources will be used. Thus, while reducing the defence industry's import costs, we will simultaneously contribute to our exports. In this respect, it is a technology that makes us extremely proud in terms of our national sentiments and what it will bring to the future," he said.

"We Will Expand Our Impact Globally"

Noting that SANLAB previously produced motion simulation for Turkey's domestic and national automotive brand TOGG with 'driver-in-the-loop' and 'software and hardware-in-the-loop' simulation infrastructure, Kükrek said, "In the simulation sector, we have set many milestones such as construction machinery simulation, welding simulation and assembly simulation. With the technologies we developed, we contributed to the development of many sectors in our country. With our 6-Axis Motion Platform, we will expand our impact to more areas and even globally. Our discussions with allied countries regarding the project's sales continue. With our technology, we will contribute not only to defence but also to the development of allied countries in areas such as automotive and aerospace. Public authorities support us in this regard. We will bring Turkish defence industry and technology much more to the forefront globally through the impact our technology will create," he said. ASELSAN Supply Chain Management Deputy General Manager Nuh Yılmaz: "To ensure our country's defence industry is fully independent and to continue supporting our security forces without losing momentum in case of any production bottleneck or embargo situation, we see it as necessary to localize all critical components through our domestic companies. Companies that begin working with ASELSAN develop and grow together with us in many areas from business practices to technological processes. We are pleased to support our companies that mature and become established brands. On this occasion, we expect all our companies that have reached a certain level of competence and wish to work for the defence industry to be part of our localization efforts," he said.
