Sakarya Teknokent to Commercialize Projects in 2023

Sakarya Teknokent to Commercialize in 2023 Sakarya University's Sakarya Technology Development Zone at the main campus hosts companies from the information technology, defense industry, agriculture, machinery, healthcare and cybersecurity sectors. Köseoğlu reported that the companies employ 900 staff, noting that they are working to motivate companies toward project and R&D-focused operations, and that the city has considerable potential particularly in technology.   Köseoğlu stated that 2023 is planned as a milestone year for Sakarya Teknokent, saying: "We are encouraging companies to secure more externally-sourced projects. In this respect, we have redesigned our technology transfer office and strengthened its structure. We will work to provide serious support to our companies in project acquisition through our experts." Reporting that work continues on construction of an additional building, Köseoğlu informed that their initiatives have been accepted by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and are in the project phase. Köseoğlu emphasized that they will strive to ensure companies focus more on commercialization this year, noting: "R&D alone does not mean much. To contribute to the country's economy, the best way to reciprocate the support provided by the state is to commercialize the R&D we conduct. We continue to support the commercialization of R&D work produced by our companies in particular. We will organize trade fairs and festivals on this subject. We will have initiatives to promote products beyond Turkey's borders abroad through digital catalogs."

"We are operating at 100 percent occupancy"

Köseoğlu pointed out that one of the factors distinguishing Sakarya Teknokent from others is the occupancy rate, stating: "We are operating at 100 percent occupancy. Besides this, we already have 27 more companies in the preliminary application stage. Demand is very high, and we are trying to respond. Part of the additional building will function as a prototyping center. In another part, we will try to create new space for waiting companies."   Noting that prototyping space is at the top of company requests, Köseoğlu continued: "In line with requests, we decided to establish a prototyping center and prepared a project. We submitted it to the Ministry, it was approved, and our work has started. Companies will be able to take their designs directly from their offices to the center for production without needing to go to industry or a factory. We will have two separate prototyping areas: electronics and mechanics. When a company takes its prototype to a customer, it will have gained a significant advantage in commercialization and sales."   Source
