Rönesans Enerji Launches Its First Battery Investment

Rönesans Enerji has launched its first investment in energy storage, beginning to strengthen its portfolio with next-generation energy solutions. The company, operating as a partnership between Rönesans Holding and TotalEnergies, continues its investments as it aims to become one of Turkey's leading green energy players.

Röneasans Enerji has implemented its first energy storage investment, strengthening its portfolio with next-generation energy solutions. The company, operating through a partnership between Röneasans Holding and TotalEnergies, continues its investments with the goal of becoming one of Turkey's leading green energy players.

The company signed a contract with Alarko Gotion Green Enerji for the supply of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for the Sibel Rüzgar Enerji Santrali (RES), an 88 MWm capacity wind power plant located in İzmir.

Through the battery system to be installed under the new investment, the aim is to reduce imbalances resulting from production fluctuations in wind energy, and to make the production profile more predictable and flexible. The system is also intended to enable revenue optimization by taking advantage of market price fluctuations and to reduce production losses from outages.

"Energy storage investments will be our priority"
Emre Hatem stated that energy storage investments play a critical role in the company's growth strategy and shared targets for the upcoming period.

Hatem said: "Over the next five years, our priority will be energy storage investments. Capacity growth is of critical importance to us. Hybrid plants and wind and solar projects with storage are among our priority areas. We are also focusing on digitalization and artificial intelligence-supported maintenance solutions."

Noting that installed capacity has reached 577 MW, Hatem stated that capacity has been increased 3.5 times in two years and the project portfolio has reached 1,400 MW. Hatem also said that they target reaching 1,000 MW of installed capacity in 2027 and 2,000 MW in 2028.

The new investment was emphasized as an important step in the company's strategy to transform energy production into a more flexible, integrated and efficient structure.
