Prof. Ahmet Kırman Receives Glass Value-Added Person of the Year Award

Phoenix Award Committee Chairman Lincoln Brown presented the award to Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman at the exclusive gala, which was attended by leading representatives from the global business world and the glass sector.

We can solve the world's fundamental problems with collective wisdom

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman, noting that the glass sector can play an active role in solving the world's fundamental problems, continued his remarks as follows: "Today the world faces three major problems, and the glass sector has important responsibilities in solving these problems. The main issue is that despite the concept of a sustainable world being strongly voiced, particularly in developed countries and especially by the United Nations, it is not receiving sufficient attention due to political and economic interests. To find solutions, first the glass industry needs to act together on resource utilization. Common problems must be solved without profit-driven motives, by maintaining competition at the lowest level, and through collective wisdom. Fair income distribution in the glass industry and providing equal opportunities for women are other important matters. We must also increase our joint efforts in these areas."

Regarding Prof. Dr. Kırman being recognized for the Glass Person of The Year award, he said the following:

"Being deemed worthy of this special award, which has been presented for over 50 years to those who are significant to the global glass industry and have contributed to the sector, holds great importance for me. After law, academia and banking, the fact that what I have accomplished in the glass industry, which I am greatly proud to be part of, is being followed and appreciated is very inspiring both in terms of motivation and responsibility. I thank the valued committee members."
