Rubia Tinctorum: Polisan Kansai Boya Paint That Adorns Canvases

Polisan Kansai Boya continues to produce innovative colours through its research and development activities – lesser-known hues that contribute to translating artistic inspiration onto canvas. One such colour is the Rubia Tinctorum red, derived from a plant grown in the Kaz Mountains and known locally as Sticky Herb, created by artist Meral Yıldız.

Polisan R&D: From Nature to Canvas

Artist Yıldız's path intersected with Polisan Kansai Boya's Basic Research Laboratory two years after the passing of Polisan Holding's founder, the late Necmettin Bitlis. Following the collaborative work, Rubia Tinctorum was transformed into a paint suitable for use on canvas. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance painters, Yıldız's works painted with Rubia Tinctorum were exhibited at Gama Gallery as part of the İKSV Istanbul Biennial, which Polisan Kansai Boya has been the official paint sponsor of for 10 years.
