Polifarma Opens API Production Facility

Polifarma opened its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Production facility located within its production plant in Ergene district, Tekirdağ, in a ceremony attended by Tekirdağ Governor Recep Soytürk, Ergene District Governor Kadir Duman, members of Polifarma's Board of Directors and employees. As one of only two producers worldwide capable of synthesizing the raw material it produces in this facility, Polifarma will accelerate its work on active ingredient synthesis based on oligonucleotides using mRNA technology, whose development processes continue at this site. At the opening of the production facility where Polifarma will manufacture the active ingredient using mRNA technology for a rare hereditary muscular disease that manifests at birth and has recently made frequent headlines in Turkey, Polifarma Board of Directors Vice Chairman Vildan Kumrulu made the following remarks: "Active ingredient production for orphan drugs and biotechnological medicines, whose development processes our R&D team continues and nears completion as the first generic version in the world, will take place in this facility. This production facility, designed for manufacturing this drug supported by the Industry Ministry's qualified project support program, the 'Momentum Program', will be the first and only of its kind in our country. Our priority has always been to make medicine access easier and to position our country as an exporter rather than importer of pharmaceuticals.
