Polat Enerji Launches Turkey's First Integrated Electricity Storage System

Polat Enerji, a leading player in the renewable energy sector jointly owned by Polat Holding and İş Enerji, has completed the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources' acceptance process for the integrated Electricity Storage System (EDS) with a capacity of 4 MW / 4 MWh, which it installed at Turkey's largest wind power plant, the Soma Wind Power Plant (RES).

Polat Enerji, a joint venture between Polat Holding and İş Enerji and a pioneer in the renewable energy sector, has completed the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources approval for a 4 MW / 4 MWh integrated electricity storage system (ESS) installed at the Soma Wind Power Plant (RES), Turkey's largest wind energy facility.

Polat Enerji, a joint venture between Polat Holding and İş Enerji, has completed the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources approval for an energy storage system operating in conjunction with Turkey's first grid-scale wind power plant at the Soma Wind Power Plant, Turkey's largest wind energy facility.

With an installed capacity of 328.9 MWm / 304.1 MWe, Soma RES maintains its position as Turkey's largest wind energy facility while opening a new chapter for the sector through storage technologies.
Commenting on this investment, an important step toward broader deployment of renewable energy, Evren Güvenç, General Director of Polat Enerji, stated: "This investment we have commissioned at Soma RES marks a threshold that makes storage's strategic role in Turkey's energy transformation visible. We are strengthening our leadership in wind energy with storage technologies that bring flexibility and supply security to the grid. Through this 'first,' we have demonstrated a scalable model. In the coming period, we aim to ensure that renewable generation integrates reliably into the system under all conditions through similar investments across our portfolio. We will continue to contribute to our country's energy independence without compromising on sustainability and technology."

Polat Enerji continues its leadership in energy storage not only through Soma RES but also through ongoing projects. Construction work on the 109 MW/132 MWh battery energy storage system at Göktepe RES, one of the company's other major storage investments, is also progressing rapidly.
By extending its leadership in renewable energy to energy storage technologies, Polat Enerji is firmly continuing its investments for Turkey's sustainable energy future.
