Changes Made to PET Import Procedures Changes have been made to import procedures for certain stones, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) chips and BOPP film originating from Iran under import surveillance and safeguard measures. The Notification on Amendment to the Notification Regarding the Application of Import Surveillance, prepared by the Ministry of Trade, was published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, imports of certain processed stones suitable for cutting and construction with a CIF value below USD 500 per ton will be subject to surveillance measures regardless of country of origin. The notification will enter into force after 30 days. The Ministry's notifications regarding "Safeguard Measures in Imports" were also published in the Official Gazette. Following an application by domestic producers to extend the period of safeguard measures applied to PET chips imports, the Board for the Evaluation of Safeguard Measures in Imports decided to initiate an investigation into the matter. Additionally, following an application by domestic producers to extend the safeguard measures currently applied to BOPP film imports originating from Iran, which were set to expire on 1 July, it was decided to open an investigation. Following the investigation, it was decided to apply a safeguard measure in the form of a quantity restriction (quota) for 3 years on imports of the relevant products originating from Iran.
