"Turkish paints sector ranks among Europe's largest markets"

BOSAD Chairman Akın Akçalı, who shared his views on the paintistanbul & Turkcoat Fair at which opening remarks were delivered by Artkim Fuarcılık Executive Board Chairman Cengiz Yaman, Fair Organization Committee Chairman Hakan Ünel, İKMİB Chairman Adil Pelister and ATO Chairman Gürsel Baran, stated: "The Turkish paints sector is an extremely important sector that has met international standards through its production quality and capabilities and exports to many parts of the world. Our country, besides being the fifth largest paints producer in Europe, is advancing towards the goal of becoming an international scale sectoral force in its own region through increasingly growing production and technological infrastructure. Turkish paint manufacturers, who have emerged stronger from all global and local crises they have experienced so far, particularly got through the pandemic period with even greater success. We closed 2020 with a paint volume of 515 thousand tonnes, and in 2021 our progress continued as we reached a volume of 628 thousand tonnes. This momentum continued in exports as well, with Turkish paints sector exports rising from USD 875 million to USD 1.1 billion. While tonnage declined in other countries worldwide, Turkey's production saw significant growth. As the Turkish paints sector, we control approximately 2% of the global USD 164 billion paints and coatings market. In this context, the paintistanbul & Turkcoat 2022 Fair, which provides an ideal platform for meeting all the raw materials, machinery, equipment and production technology needs of the sector, is once again serving as an important bridge between producers and buyers."

Good news for the sector

In his speech, BOSAD Chairman Akın Akçalı announced that the annual assessment meeting organized every year by the World Coatings Council, founded in 1992 and representing the world paints sector, will be held under Turkey's hosting in 2023, which marks both BOSAD's 20th founding anniversary and the 100th founding anniversary of our Republic.

Turkey carries enormous potential for trade fairs

Artkim Fuarcılık Executive Board Chairman Cengiz Yaman, speaking at the opening, provided information about the paintistanbul & Turkcoat 2022 Fair which incorporated many innovations in the new period, noting that while the pandemic process affected our country as it did all nations, Turkey experienced a very rapid recovery in the fair sector due to its dynamic structure. Cengiz Yaman stated that fairs, as before the pandemic, continue to be environments that bring the sector together and enable high-volume business cooperation both domestically and internationally, and provided information about the innovations at this year's fair: "Our virtual fair platform and our mobile application called allArtkim, which will remain accessible for three months following the end of the physical fair, are active in this fair as well. Through these, we aim to provide companies with extended communication opportunities and high brand visibility, while offering visitors the ability to view information about companies according to their needs without time constraints and the opportunity to conduct online meetings."

Business representatives satisfied with sector interest

İKMİB Chairman Adil Pelister, ATO Chairman Gürsel Baran and BOSAD Fair Organization Committee Chairman Hakan Ünel also emphasized in their remarks our country's production and export strength, noting that the sector is now well past the pandemic's effects. İKMİB Chairman Pelister stressed that Turkey holds a significant position in the world in the chemical industry, particularly in the paints sector, while ATO Chairman Baran emphasized that production facilities continue to be distributed across different points in Anatolia in line with the incentives provided. Fair Organization Committee Chairman Hakan Ünel expressed their satisfaction with the interest shown in the fair which will host Turkish and foreign visitors following a four-year break, and voiced their confidence that business cooperation will increase further at the fair to be held in 2024.
