Surface Treatment and Coating Technologies Meet at PaintExpo Eurasia 2019 and Surtech Eurasia 2019

The Eurasian edition of PaintExpo, the world's leading industrial coatings technology fair, along with PAINTEXPO EURASIA 2019 and the International Surface Treatment and Galvanizing Technology Fair, SURTECH EURASIA 2019, concluded successfully. Visitors and purchasing delegations from 55 countries showed considerable interest in this major event, where next-generation robotic technologies were particularly prominent. Turkey's losses due to corrosion and the call for a national campaign against corrosion were among the key themes of the organization.

Robotic Transformation Accelerating

Leading industry figures participated in a panel held as part of the fairs. VIG Makine Board Chairman Vedat Güngören emphasized in his remarks that the sector is undergoing transformation. Güngören drew attention to the difficulty of finding intermediate and direct level personnel, and stated that the sector is rapidly moving toward robots and robotic applications to achieve sustained quality improvement.

Emphasis Needed on Corrosion Control

General Galvanizers Association (GALDER) Vice Chairman Alim Kınoğlu highlighted the importance of combating corrosion. Noting that one of the first steps that could be taken in this regard is the inclusion of corrosion in public procurement specifications, Kınoğlu also recalled that through galvanizing, materials can be made to last 70 years. Turkish Structural Steel Association (TUCSA) Chairman H. Yener Gür'eş stated that they estimate Turkey's corrosion-related losses at USD 50 billion, with at least USD 7.5 billion recoverable. He expressed that the fight against corrosion should be treated as a national issue.

Productive Fair with Visitors and Purchasing Delegations from 55 Countries

PAINTEXPO EURASIA 2019, the leading industrial coatings organization with 84 participants including 22 foreign companies, and SURTECH EURASIA 2019, the regional leaders' meeting for surface treatment and galvanizing, with 66 participants including 26 foreign companies, brought the sector together. Nearly 4,000 visitors, including 411 from abroad, and numerous purchasing delegations from a total of 55 countries participated in these fairs. The fair, which brought together regional leaders, recorded the highest visitor attendance from Germany, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Algeria, France, England, Iran, Italy, Uzbekistan, and Saudi Arabia.

Within the scope of Turkey's national technology initiative, surface treatment and industrial coatings technologies are of great importance for increasing exports and achieving global brand objectives.
