OYAK Makes Strategic Investment in India Almatis, part of OYAK Group Companies, has commissioned its tabular alumina facility in India's Falta Region, which it has integrated with new technologies. Almatis, one of the world's largest alumina producers and part of OYAK Group Companies, has integrated its tabular alumina facility in the Falta Region of India. OYAK will now expand in the Southeast Asian market with the Falta facility, where semi-finished product manufacturing will also take place. According to statements made, the company's backward-integrated tabular alumina facility in Falta represents a response to the Indian government's "Make in India" initiative for manufacturers. With this investment, Almatis has fully integrated the tabular alumina production process in India, where it had previously supported part of its production through its own global operational network and has been active since 1995. The facility, built on a total area of 32,300 square meters, completed its development process with cutting-edge technologies in approximately 2.5 years. OYAK General Manager Süleyman Savaş Erdem stated that Almatis' new investment, a market leader among specialty alumina product groups worldwide, is a result of OYAK's vision and growth strategy. The company, which has recently increased emphasis on foreign investments in the sectors it operates in, expects the Falta facility to contribute USD 40 million to revenue in its initial phase.
Right Investment in the Right Market
Süleyman Savaş Erdem stated: "When determining OYAK's future vision, we set the goal of becoming a global player. In recent years, we have taken strong steps to realize this goal in line with our growth strategy. Today we operate 24 hours without interruption in different sectors, maintaining our pioneering role in the areas we operate in. We are proud of the success we have achieved by implementing our strategic decisions. Our integrated production facility in India is concrete evidence of our company's strength and scale," he said. Erdem emphasized that with this investment by Almatis, the company will increase its production capacity in India, a virgin field in the refractory market. Erdem stated: "We implemented the Falta facility with the understanding of 'right investment in the right market' in a large geography like India, one of the world's fastest-growing countries. With the tabular alumina produced at the facility, we will meet the demands of the Southeast Asian market."
Falta Investment is Just the Beginning
According to statements made, the company's Falta investment will be an important milestone for tabular alumina supply to the Indian market. Almatis aims to localize its operations, aligning itself more closely with the Indian market and thereby managing market demand fluctuations more successfully. The Falta investment represents the beginning of Almatis' efforts to expand its operational footprint in the Indian market, which was once seen as a "major leap forward" for the company.
