Novo Nordisk to Bring 12 Students to Denmark for Science Program

Novo Nordisk, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, is hosting the "Future Scientists Camp" in Copenhagen, Denmark, welcoming 100 high school students from different countries around the world. The camp will include 12 young people from Turkey and will take place during the second week of August. For one week, 100 high school students from around the globe come together to explore topics including health, sustainability and cutting-edge science, with a particular focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education. Novo Nordisk Foundation-managed and a Denmark-based global healthcare company that has dedicated itself to public health with a sustainable approach since 1923, Novo Nordisk is organizing various events on its 100th anniversary with the mission of leading change for generations to come. Operating in Turkey since 1995, Novo Nordisk is pioneering the fight against chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity and rare diseases, aiming to inspire today's next generation of scientists who work to improve human lives and build healthy societies.

12 Students from Turkey at the "Future Scientists Camp"

The "Future Scientists Camp", which will be held for the first time through the collaboration of LIFE Foundation, which conducts scientific work for young people within Novo Nordisk Foundation, and Novo Nordisk, will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark between 6-12 August 2023. 12 students from Turkey will participate in the camp alongside 100 students from around the world.

Jens Pii Olesen, Vice President and General Manager of Novo Nordisk Turkey, made the following statement on the matter:

"For a sustainable world and healthy societies, we care about inspiring the next generation of scientists from today. We are very excited that through the 'Future Scientists Camp' we can provide the selected students from Turkey with the opportunity to develop themselves in scientific topics, network with young people from different countries, and share their learning and perspectives." The one-week program consists of intensive learning, seminars and activities. High school students participating in various scientific activities at Novo Nordisk will strengthen their curiosity about science while also having the opportunity to discover different cultures. Eyşan Sağlık, a high school student from Ankara participating in the Science Camp, said this experience would provide her with the knowledge and skills she needs to succeed in science in the future, and continued as follows: "I discovered the Science Camp thanks to a friend and quickly submitted my application. I am very excited to go to Denmark. At the camp, I will have the opportunity to explore my interest in science and meet peers from different countries. I am looking forward to seeing Denmark's wonderful scenery and learning about new cultures. At the camp, we will listen to seminars on global issues and then conduct work on solutions to these problems." Ceren Sezin, another high school student participating in the Science Camp from Istanbul, shared her feelings before the camp: "I am very excited to go to the Science Camp and I believe this experience will be very beneficial for me. I know that speakers from different organizations will participate and I will learn new things from them. I am very excited to see Denmark, meet students from different countries and cultures. Also, I believe that thanks to the camp, I will have an idea about what profession I will choose in the future."
