NASA Develops Detergent for Astronaut Clothing

NASA, gelecekte Ay ve Mars görevlerinde kullanılmak üzere astronot giysileri için yeni bir deterjan üretti. Kurum, bunun için ABD merkezli bir kimya firması ile anlaştı. NASA'nın gelecekte Ay'da ve Mars'ta kurmayı planladığı üslerde su tasarrufu oldukça önemli bir hale gelecek. Currently, supply missions deliver clothing to astronauts on the International Space Station. However, this will be impossible during Mars missions lasting two to three years. For this reason, NASA and US-based chemical company Procter & Gamble have developed a fully biodegradable detergent that will clean clothing without wasting water.

TO BE TESTED WITHIN 10 YEARS

The products will be tested over the next 10 years on the International Space Station, as well as during lunar and Mars missions. On the other hand, the product in question is not only important for astronauts on space missions but also highly significant for Earth. Climate change has begun to strain the global water supply by causing drought in certain regions. Consequently, the detergent developed could achieve substantial water savings on Earth as well.   Source
