Koruma Ships First Export from Hatay Kırıkhan Turkey is working to heal the wounds inflicted by earthquakes that have shaken society deeply. Industrial operators in the region are making intensive efforts to get the wheels turning again. Koruma Şirketler Grubu is counting down to the resumption of production at its chemical plant in Hatay Kırıkhan, and has shipped the region's first post-earthquake export to Spain. Resolving the housing crisis and reviving industrial activity in earthquake-affected provinces are among the most urgent issues for preserving employment and industry in the region. Koruma Şirketler Grubu moved quickly to address the problem by establishing container and bungalow housing units manufactured at its own facilities near the Hatay Kırıkhan plant for workers and their families whose homes were damaged in the earthquake. The Hatay Kırıkhan plant, built to withstand earthquakes, sustained no structural damage. The facility has undergone necessary checks and maintenance for safe production and is awaiting the improvement of conditions in the region before resuming operations. As production restarts, it will continue to contribute to Turkey's economy and exports. Koruma has shipped the Kırıkhan plant's first post-earthquake export to Spain. Trucks carrying trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA), which was previously produced at the plant and is manufactured in Turkey solely by Koruma, have headed toward the Port of Valencia in Spain. Koruma Şirketler Grubu, which operates plants in Kocaeli and Denizli as well as Hatay Kırıkhan, reached the heavily damaged region from the first hours of the 6 February earthquake that devastated the country. It sent aid trucks carrying emergency supplies, heavy machinery and support teams for search and rescue operations to Hatay. Having lost employees and their family members in the earthquake, Koruma opened the Kırıkhan plant to workers, their families and the local population.   Earthquake victims whose homes were damaged are continuing their lives in containers and bungalows with electricity, water and heating infrastructure in place near the plant. Services such as dining facilities and laundry facilities are also provided in these living spaces. Koruma is also continuing to send emergency supplies such as housing, food, cleaning and hygiene products, portable toilets and shower facilities to both Hatay and earthquake-affected Kahramanmaraş. A statement from Koruma Şirketler Grubu, which will continue production of cleaning and hygiene products and industrial chemicals at the Hatay Kırıkhan plant, noted that production and exports are critical to the region's economic recovery and the recovery of its population. It was also noted that the group's other investments, particularly hydrogen peroxide, are proceeding in the coming period.
