Coronavirus Vaccine Trialed for the First Time

U.S. scientists administered initial doses of a vaccine developed against the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) to volunteers participating in trials. The developed vaccine is being tested in the first phase on four healthy individuals at the Kaiser Permanente Research Center in Washington state. Dr. Lisa Jackson, leading the research team, said before the trials began, "We are now the Coronavirus team. Everyone wants to do their part in this emergency situation." The vaccine was first tested on Jennifer Haller, a Seattle resident and operations manager at a small technology company. Associated Press photographed the moment the first vaccine developed in response to the crisis affecting the world was administered. Jennifer Haller, the first human to be tested with the vaccine, said, "We felt very helpless. It's great to have something I can do," and noted that her children found it "cool" that she was participating in the trials. After receiving the vaccine, Haller left the room with a big smile, saying, "I feel great." The Coronavirus has been detected in 182,000 people worldwide so far, and 7,000 people have died.   Source
