Kordsa Accelerates Efforts to Become a Strategic Player in Aerospace Composite Technologies

The Global Entrepreneurship Congress, which hosts nearly 10,000 international participants from 170 countries each year, was held this year in Istanbul under the co-coordination of Endeavor Association, Habitat Association, TİM and TOBB.
Speaking at the congress, Murat Oğuz Arcan, Business and Market Development Director and Construction Business Unit Leader at Kordsa, emphasized that they have expanded both their business lines and areas of operation by investing in innovation and technology. He stated: "As a reinforcement player spread across a wide geography from America to Asia Pacific, at our 8 production facilities in Turkey, the United States, Brazil, Thailand and Indonesia, we provide high-value-added reinforcement solutions with the vision of 'Strengthening Life'. Over the past ten years, we have particularly focused our research and development efforts on automation, data collection, data security and sensor technologies. Through strategic partnerships, we are successfully implementing sensor technologies and deploying them across all our factories. With our smart manufacturing systems, we are redefining production quality and increasing production speed with fewer errors. Our products and technologies we have developed enable the production of many products used in our daily lives, making them safer, higher performing and more durable. With our construction reinforcement technologies, we support the production of more durable and safer structures, while in tire reinforcement technologies we contribute to the production of tires that reduce braking distance and provide better road grip. With our composite materials, vehicles become lighter yet stronger, their fuel consumption decreases and environmental damage is minimized. Composite is the material of the future—5 to 6 times lighter than steel, 7 to 8 times stronger and with a very long service life. At our Composite Technologies Centre of Excellence, which we launched in 2016 in collaboration with Sabancı University, we made an innovation in the first year that will increase production speed in the automotive composites field. At the centre, we continue our work without slowing down to develop visual and structural parts for the production of stronger and lighter vehicles. We conduct collaborative projects with many countries and institutions. We are part of joint projects that include the development of systems, software and materials for the production of composite materials using 3D printer technology and the production of nano-material-enhanced composite repair materials for the aviation sector. Today, we reinforce 1 out of every 3 automobile tires and 2 out of every 3 aircraft tires in the world. In composite technologies, we have accelerated our work with the goal of becoming a strategic player in the aviation market as we are in automotive. We aim to reinforce the wings and fuselages of aircraft whose tires we reinforce with our composite technology." He said.
