Kocaeli Gulf Logistics Workshop to be Held The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure noted that Kocaeli ports have become a hub for maritime transport due to their fast and easy accessibility, and announced that the Gulf Logistics Workshop will be held on 30 June in Kocaeli, the industrial capital, with the participation of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu. In a written statement from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was noted that Kocaeli holds the position of industrial capital. The statement emphasized that Kocaeli, where rail and road transport meet, has become an important hub in maritime transport, and noted that the Kocaeli Gulf is easily and quickly accessible via the Osmangazi Bridge, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Northern Marmara Motorway and Istanbul-Izmir Motorway, thereby providing savings in fuel and time. The statement noted that through the integration of rail, road and maritime transport, gulf ports play an important role in increasing exports, and drew attention to how the added value produced reaches the world. The statement said: "Kocaeli ranks among the leading provinces in manufacturing industry in our country. With 14 organized industrial zones, Kocaeli stands out in the chemicals, automotive and steel sectors. There are 35 port facilities within the administrative jurisdiction of Kocaeli Port Authority" it was explained.

Highest cargo handling in Kocaeli

The statement conveyed that due to developments in foreign trade, activity in Kocaeli ports has also increased, stating: "In May, the highest cargo handling took place within the administrative boundaries of Kocaeli Port Authority. Port facilities operating within the administrative boundaries of Kocaeli Port Authority handled a total of 7 million 382 thousand tonnes of cargo. Of the cargo handled, 6 million 90 thousand tonnes comprised foreign trade cargo, 1 million 234 thousand tonnes comprised cabotage cargo and 57 thousand 946 tonnes comprised transit cargo. In the same month, 176 thousand 155 TEU of container handling was performed at Kocaeli Port Authority. In the January-May period, compared to the same period of the previous year, 35 million 221 thousand tonnes of cargo were handled with a 3.4 per cent increase, and 997 thousand 697 TEU of container handling was performed with a 13.8 per cent increase" the statement said. Experts in the field to convene at Logistics Workshop on 30 June The statement conveyed that the Gulf Logistics Workshop will be held on 30 June, and announced that Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu will attend the opening of the workshop. The statement said: "The workshop will be attended by representatives from the public and private sectors, representatives of Civil Society Organizations, academics and experts in the field. The 2053 Transport and Logistics Master Plan will also serve as a guide at the workshop. At the workshop, reducing logistics costs, green energy, reducing emissions from transport, transport investments, logistics centers, integration between transport modes, autonomous systems, new targets and policies and legal regulations will be addressed" it was stated.
