Chemical Companies in Turkey's Top 500 Industrial Enterprises
İSO (Istanbul Chamber of Industry) unveiled the 2022 results of its "Turkey's 500 Largest Industrial Enterprises Research," which it has published without interruption since 1968. Chemical firms featured among the top 500 in the released list.
At a press conference held in the Fazıl Zobu Assembly Hall at İSO headquarters in the Odakule building, İSO Board Chairman Erdal Bahçıvan presented the "Turkey's 500 Largest Industrial Enterprises Research" to journalists.
İSO Chairman Bahçıvan, sharing the summary results of the research, stated: "Over the past five years, alongside the current İSO 500, we are sharing with you the content from 50 years ago of this valuable research whose roots extend back to the 1960s. This year we reprinted the August 1973 edition of our journal for this purpose. In the folder we are distributing, you can also review the results of our research from 50 years ago, which at that time was conducted as the 100 Largest Firms.
Today we have gathered here to present to the public, through you esteemed press representatives, our work which has now reached its 55th year and has become an invaluable industrial archive on the 100th anniversary of our Republic. In other words, to this information source whose value increases and importance grows with each passing year, we are about to add 'one more drop.'"
Sales from Production Rose 119% in 2022
İSO Chairman Bahçıvan extended his thanks to the industrial enterprises that shared the necessary data for this research. Sales figures were also shared in the statement. According to the data presented, sales from production in the İSO 500 rose 119% in 2022, climbing from TRY 2,048 billion to TRY 4,485 billion.Highest Export Figures Achieved in Both Turkey and İSO 500 History
Export data for the İSO 500 was also released. Regarding the export figures, İSO Chairman Bahçıvan stated: "The İSO 500's exports approached USD 98 billion with a 14.1% increase. As can be seen, the export growth of the İSO 500 exceeded the national average by 1.2 percentage points. Thus, the highest export figures in both Turkey and İSO 500 history have been achieved." According to the released list, Tüpraş became Turkey's largest industrial enterprise. Among companies operating in the chemical sector, the firm ranked in the top 100 of the İSO 500 list. Şişecam ranked 24th on the list and improved its ranking compared to the previous year's İSO 500 list. Sasa Polyester ranked 22nd and secured a place among the top 100 industrial enterprises. Some of the other firms in the top 100 include: Petkim Petrokimya, Eti Bakır, Eti Maden, Assan Alüminyum, Aksa Akrilik, Hayat Kimya, Sarten Ambalaj, Ravago Petrokimya. Chemical sector companies also appeared in the top 250. Köksan Pet ve Plastik Ambalaj joined the list of firms that improved their ranking, placing 107th. Abdi İbrahim, among strong pharmaceutical companies, ranked 117th. Other firms in the top 250 include: Betek Boya, Kordsa, Cargill, Eczacıbaşı Tüketim Ürünleri, Akkim Kimya, Mitaş Endüstri, Kimteks Poliüretan, Koçak Farma, Jotun Boya and DYO Boya Fabrikaları. Looking at the overall İSO 500 list released according to 2022 figures, BASF Türk Kimya, operating in the chemical sector, ranked 272nd, while Akdeniz Chemson placed 275th. Other firms in the top 500 include: Kansai Altan Boya, Turkuaz Polyester, CFN Kimya, Nobel İlaç, Frimpeks Kimya, ABY Plastik Ambalaj, Akpa Alüminyum, Likit Kimya, İskur Boya, Koza Polyester, Bayer Türk Kimya, Sun Chemical Matbaa Mürekkepleri ve Gereçleri, Akkim Yapı Kimyasalları, DowAksa İleri Kompozit Malzemeler, Dioki Petrokimya, World Medicine İlaç Sanayi, Atabay Kimya, Akcoat, Ünteks Boya, Meltem Kimya, Sapro, Polifarma, Ege Kimya, İzocam, Polisan Kansai Boya and Plastay Kimya.
