Kalyon PV Converts Seed Into Heirloom Seed
Kalyon PV's seed manufacturing, the initial step in solar panel production, has moved Turkey to second place globally after China in this sector.
In a statement noting that seed is the first step in solar panel manufacturing, it was said that 'Through intensive R&D efforts by Kalyon PV, seed has been transformed into a domestic and national 'Foundation Seed'. With the production of domestic 'Foundation Seed', Kalyon PV has become one of the world's major producers in solar technology, while making a new contribution to our country's energy independence.'
Kalyon PV Chief Executive Officer Ersan Tüfekçi made the following comments on the matter:
'Within the scope of our research and development activities at our ingot and wafer factory, we are reinforcing our title as the world's first company outside China to combine 4 factories including R&D under one roof with our designation as the world's only seed producer outside China that gives crystal structure to ingots. 'Seed', which acts as a yeast in the transformation of polysilicon, the raw material of solar panels, into ingots, helps our massive ingots averaging 350 kilograms in weight and 3.5 meters in length acquire flawless crystal structure. Our domestic 'Foundation Seed' production, which has brought our localization rate to 90 percent, elevates Turkey to a unique position in solar technology.' Tüfekçi emphasized that they closely follow global technology trends, stating, 'With this technological development where we have also broken China's monopoly, we want to be a seed supplier to both Europe and the United States.' Noting that they recently made their first high-volume solar panel exports to the United States, Tüfekçi added that they are targeting the export of 500 megawatts of solar panels to many countries, particularly the United States, in 2025.
