New Chairman of the İTO Assembly: Öztürk Oran

Öztürk Oran elected Chair of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce for 20th term

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) Assembly, which elected its Board of Directors Chair and members for the next four years on Saturday, 14 April, held the election for the 20th Term Assembly Chair on Thursday, 19 April (today). The election began at 17:00 in the İTO Assembly Hall. Öztürk Oran was elected Assembly Chair, while Veysi Cengiz Balçık and Salih Sami Atılgan were elected Deputy Assembly Chairs. Vildan Özcan took the position of Assembly Secretary Member. The session in the Assembly hall was chaired by Yılmaz Cömert, the oldest member of the İTO Assembly. Members then cast votes for Assembly Members, the Assembly Chair, and the Assembly Chair's Executive Board.Öztürk Oran and Mithat Yümlü competed for the Assembly Chair position. Following the vote, Öztürk Oran was elected as the new Assembly Chair of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. İTO Board of Directors Chair Şekib Avdagiç, commenting on the matter, said: "Our 603 colleagues in our committees have taken on the duty to be the voice of their sectors and to build on what has been established. As representatives of Istanbul's business world, our 261 assembly members carry an important responsibility and are embarking on a marathon in this hall. We believe that the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce will be a center for ideas that will grow Turkey and advance this country. This is our goal, this is our belief." Öztürk Oran, the İTO's new Assembly Chair, said in his remarks: "Today, the Executive Board of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Assembly, which is a symbol of consultation, collective wisdom, and brotherhood in the business world, has taken shape through your goodwill. First and foremost, I offer my heartfelt gratitude to you, esteemed Assembly Members, for deeming us worthy of this position."
