Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate Launches Psychological Support Program

Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate developed a Mental Health Support Program to address psychological distress and problems that may arise during the coronavirus pandemic. During this period when citizens remain at home, isolation may create difficulties, and KORDEP will be a major resource for those experiencing psychological distress and requiring support during the pandemic. The preparation of KORDEP was supported not only by Istanbul Mazhar Osman and Erenköy Mental and Nervous Hospitals but also by numerous NGOs providing services in the field of mental health.  

KORDEP can also prevent virus transmission

The process will begin when citizens call the KORDEP line, and following initial reception, referrals to relevant specialists will be made within the framework of the established program. Online therapy services will be provided via the web if necessary. KORDEP, which was prepared by specialists in the field and whose online training has been completed in a short time, will meet a major need and will also prevent virus transmission. Initially, calls will be handled through 10 lines at 4 centers; call centers and lines will be increased according to demand.
