İsmail Gülle's Assessment of Exports

Assessment on Exports from İsmail Gülle Turkey aims to set new export records in the new year. By year-end, the country is expected to reach its 250 billion dollar export target. In an assessment on Turkey's exports, İsmail Gülle, former Chairman of Turkey's Exporters Assembly (TİM), Member of the Board of Management of Türk Eximbank, Member of the Board of Management of İKV, Member of the Assembly of İSO and Chairman of the Board of Management of Gülle Integrated Textile Operations A.Ş. İsmail Gülle, said, "During this period when the dollar exchange rate is kept under control, exporters will be strengthened and thus a very important price advantage will be achieved. With the support of our government, I believe we will complete 2023 with very high export figures. With exports continuing with great dedication in the 100th year of the Republic, we will bring Turkey closer to a 500 billion dollar export target by 2030." Turkey has reached significant figures by setting records in exports. According to the latest foreign trade data released, Turkey is progressing toward the 250 billion dollar target set for 2022. Exports, which are expected to close the year at the 250 billion dollar target, are anticipated to set records again in 2023.  

Exports in January-November period reached 231 billion dollars

  According to November foreign trade figures, exports in that month reached 21.9 billion dollars, up 1.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Exports for the January-November period rose to 231 billion dollars, up 14 percent. İsmail Gülle, Member of the Board of Management of Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association and Member of the Assembly of Istanbul Chamber of Industry, assessed Turkey's record-breaking exports in 2022.

"Turkey achieved export performance above targets"

  Gülle, emphasizing that 2022 was a very challenging year for both Turkey and the world, said, "We witnessed trade that took place under the pressure of global recession and the effects of inflation. Despite this, our country continued to break historical records and achieved export performance above targets."

"We understood the importance of exports as a country and producers"

Gülle said, "As we count down the days to 2023, which is the 100th year of the Republic, we all—the country and producers—have understood how important export performance is and we maintained the set targets. When President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan completed the 2021 exports, he set a target for 2022. Thank God, with the great success of the export family, we finished 2022 exports with a figure above the target."

"The process in the logistics sector increased the focus on Turkey"

Gülle, noting that the process in the logistics sector particularly in the post-pandemic period increased the focus on Turkey, said, "20 percent of 2021 exports were met with demand brought about by extraordinary circumstances. Therefore, we saw this effect continue partly in 2022. During this process, especially the great appreciation of the agricultural sector after the pandemic, the outstanding performance of the defense industry and the performance shown by our other sectors provided very serious opportunities for this record to be achieved."
