First Aid Starts With You Wins Gold Award
The "First Aid Starts With You" project, carried out in collaboration by the Turkish Emergency Medicine Association (TATD), Tüvana Reading Enthusiast Child Education Foundation (TOÇEV) and AstraZeneca Turkey, has been awarded the Gold Award in the "Healthy Living" category at the Brandverse Awards.
The "First Aid Starts With You" project, conducted in collaboration between the Turkish Emergency Medicine Association (TATD), Tüvana Reading Enthusiast Child Education Foundation (TOÇEV) and AstraZeneca Turkey, won the Gold Award in the "Healthy Living" category under the "Social Responsibility and Sustainability" main section at the Brandverse Awards, where successful brands and projects in advertising, marketing and marketing communications are evaluated with an "integrated marketing" approach.
Within the scope of the project, basic first aid training is being provided to high school students in various provinces across Turkey by volunteer emergency medicine specialists from TATD. These trainings cover basic life support, CPR and artificial respiration in adults and children, as well as the Heimlich maneuver and foreign body airway obstruction, taught practically on models.
So far, the project has reached over 30,000 students in 85 schools across 11 provinces. In addition, 57 employees from AstraZeneca volunteered to support the trainings held in different provinces.
The project aims to provide training to approximately 55,000 students in 155 schools across 27 provinces by 2025. The trainings provided within the scope of the project will continue with new provinces in the next academic year.
AstraZeneca Turkey Country Head Pharmacist Serkan Barış made the following remarks regarding the award they received:
"The 'First Aid Starts With You' project that we are implementing with TATD and TOÇEV is one of the valuable projects we have realized in the field of access to healthcare services. We implemented this project within the scope of the Youth Health Programme, which AstraZeneca has been running in 39 countries to date, including Turkey. The programme has touched the lives of more than 9 million young people and 160,000 healthcare workers worldwide so far. Just as in many parts of the world, we are proud to receive this important award that attests to our commitment to building a healthy future for people in our country as well. We hope our project will be beneficial to our young people and we thank everyone who participated in the training and contributed to this project," he said. TATD President Prof. Dr. Serkan Yılmaz stated in his remarks, "In all medical interventions, the most important goal is to keep the person alive. In cases of sudden cardiac arrest, which are extremely critical, it is extremely important that the intervention is carried out correctly and in a timely manner with no deficiencies or errors in implementation. Through programmes that inform the public about these procedures, survival rates from cardiac arrest can be improved dramatically. We are pleased with the award given by Brandverse Awards for this project, which disseminates first aid and basic life support training to make first aid applications more widespread. I would like to thank all our stakeholders who contributed to the project."TOÇEV Board Chairman Ebru Uygun made the following statement on the matter:
"With this project of ours, we are responding to requests from schools and students, and drawing attention to the importance of providing basic life support with simple but vital techniques in accidents that could happen to anyone in daily life. Together with the experts from the Turkish Emergency Medicine Association, one of our project stakeholders, we provide theoretical and practical training to our young people. The measurements we have conducted with our project demonstrate how much we have increased awareness of first aid. This meaningful award has become another source of motivation for us to continue our project with even greater strength. Thank you very much to everyone who contributed to it."Advertisement
